Module 1 – Why mentoring matters

Please watch the video first and then complete the exercise.

Exercise:

In the module you learned that mentoring is always a win-win situation.

  • What would you like to bring into the mentoring relation and what would you like to get out of the mentoring relation?
  • What could you do to make that happen?

Module 2 -What does it mean to be a mentor

Please watch the video first and then complete the exercise.

Exercise:

Take a minute to think about the best mentor you’ve ever had yourself. And if you didn’t have an official mentor, you could have had someone that was an excellent advisor at some point in your career. Someone that guided you, helped you or gave you just a push the moment you needed it most. It can be someone at work, but it could also be someone back at times you were a student.

  • Do you have someone in mind?
  • What made this person such a special mentor?
  • What was the example this person set?
  • What does it mean for the mentor you want to be yourself?

Module 3 -Design your mentoring journey

Please watch the video first and then complete the exercise.

Exercise:

How do you want to work with your mentee during your mentoring relation?

What is important for you? Think about what you find important and make sure you cover time investment, confidentiality, who is going to schedule the meetings, location and how you think and deal with ‘homework’ assignments.
